Stand Up!

Join Prevention Specialists from Holcomb Prevention and Education Services for Stand Up: No More Bullying on Monday, March 1st at 7pm on the 2nd floor. This program is designed for children and caregivers to attend together as a family.

The program will include information on the three main roles in a bullying situation (victim, bully, and bystander) and the characteristics of these roles, as well as the three different kinds of bullying (verbal, emotional/social, and physical). We’ll discuss how to handle a bullying situation –resources and ways to take action.

Pirate's Treasure Hunt- Monday, November 23rd @ 11 AM

Think and talk like a pirates in order to complete this scavenger hunt for prizes.

Survivor Game- Tuesday, November 24th @ 11 AM

Join a team and complete a series of challenges in order to become the ruling tribe.

These programs are open to all middle school aged teens and are free to the public. Just bring your lunch and we'll provide the rest.

Haunted House Success!

Last Friday, Teen and Adult Programming, joined forces to provide the community with a fun way to celebrate Halloween. We had our first Haunted House and it was a success! Thank you Advisory Board, volunteers and staff. Without your cooperation this event would not have been a success.

We were also interviewed by Delaware County Newspaper, so please keep an eye out for the article this Wednesday.

NEW MOON BOOK CLUB

Calling all Twilight fans – join the New Moon Book Club on Wednesdays at 3pm in the Community Room. This is your opportunity to examine the story of Bella and Edward’s complex relationship, issues between vampires and werewolves, Bella’s heartbreak, and more.

Please bring a copy of your book or borrow one from the library. We’ll move through each book in the series as the book club progress. This book club is open to Teens grades 6-12.

Scrabble Tournament for all Ages

The Never Ending Story

Zach was instrumental in creating the script, filming and editing this film. If you missed the film, we will put a copy of the movie in circulation within two weeks. A teen is invited to attend a meeting of the Secret Society of the Underground, meeting in the "dungeon" at the Haverford Township Free Library. There he learns the library's secret, the characters of their books come out to play at night. Successful Teen Week!

We had a successful tween week! Thank you for participating. Teens were able to have fun playing wacky challenges for both the Survivor theme and Willy Wonka Events.

In the Survivor themed event, teens were in groups of four, their challenges were to find plastic eggs in order to obtain items for the next challenges. They had to get newspapers, a mask, tape and table cloths. They had to build a tent with table cloths and hats with newspapers. For the Tribal wars, team members directed a blind folded team member to find a water bottle so that they can squirt an opposing tribe member. Teens also had the challenge of the swamp crossing in order to have refreshments. Lastly, they were fishing blind folded. Winners got to eat pizza first.

For the Willy Wonka day event, teens were in groups of two. The first game was a chocolate trivia where teens won chocolate bars. The second challenge was a egg relay. Teens had to race with a plastic spoon in their mouth while balancing a plastic egg. Their partner had to run they identical distance but with a plastic egg on their neck. The last challenge was to unravel Hershey kisses with oven mitts. First one to complete the challenges won. Teens ate pizza and participated in a chocolate bingo.

Haverford High School's Radio Program, WHHS 99.9 fm held their first "Coffee House" last Friday at our Library. It was a huge success! Over a 100 teens attended, and listened to the three live bands. Japenese Language Club- Ever thought of learning a new language? Join Armen directly after Anime Club meetings and learn Japenese. Club meets every Monday and Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Video/Photography Club-Do you enjoy taking pictures or recording your friends doing silly things? Middle school and high school students can now join the Video & Photography Club. Members will work together to learn how to improve their digital photography and make movies. The library will provide the editing software, just bring your ideas! The club meets every Tuesday from 3-4pm.

Are you ready to smash the competition!?! Well now here is your chance. The library will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Brawl Competition on November 22. It will start at 1pm and go till 4pm. There will be some extra controllers but not enough for all so bring a controller (Wii mote, Wii controller, and Gamecube controller are all accepted). It is asked that if possible please bring a small tv, Wii console, and Super Smash Bros Brawl game. Fun will be had by all, any questions call or email us. Teen Murder Mystery

The teen murder mystery was a great success. We had 10 youth participate as characters and 36 youth were present. We had two winners that guessed correctly on who was the murderer. I would like to thank the teen advisory for their participation, the Haverford High School Radio program for their music, and everyone who attended.
